Orthotic Therapy

Foot pain can make you feel miserable! What is an orthotic? Orthotics refer to custom-made or prefabricated devices that are designed to provide support, correct alignment, and improve the function of the feet and lower limbs.

Orthotic therapy can have a wide range of applications and are successfully used to assist in treating a range of conditions including

  • Heel or arch pain

  • Flat and high arched feet

  • Pain in the ball of the foot

  • Knee, back or shin pain

Heel and arch pain ( also commonly known as a heel spur) is a debilitating problem but the good news is that help is on the way! It can usually be linked to poor footwear, a change in activity, rapid weight gain, abnormalities in the way a person walks or flat feet.

At St Agnes Podiatry you will receive thorough assessment, explanation and treatment. This may involve recommendations on change of footwear, taping, stretching or orthotic therapy.

Plaster casts of the feet are taken and then sent locally to be manufactured with a detailed prescription tailored to the individual's needs.
